Fountain Of Youth

The Fountain of Youth is a mythical spring which restores the youth of anyone who drinks from it. Does that sound too good to be true? The reality is that there is no “Fountain of Youth” spring water you can drink to magically restore your youth. It is a nice story but not based in truth. However, there is a Fountain of Youth that can keep you feeling and looking younger. What is this magic thing? It is called strength training. Let me explain:

Strength Training is proven to help increase your metabolism and manage weight, manage chronic conditions like back pain that makes us feel old, improve our mental health and thinking skills, improve the quality of sleep, which makes us feel more energized, and enhances the quality of our life. All these things help us to look and feel younger. Moving with ease, being strong and agile, and feeling our best help us battle the aging process. I don’t know about you, but I want to age with Power & Strength!

Even just adding 3-4 days per week of strength training can make a huge difference in how we look and feel. Strength training adds lean muscle mass to our body, which improves body composition, and gives us more energy throughout the day. Who doesn’t want that? Having lean muscle mass also reduces the risk of injuries, improves bone health, helps control body fat accumulation, and improves posture.

How fast can you see these results? If you are consistent and challenge yourself in your workouts, you can expect to see changes in 6-8 weeks! You will start to feel changes in as little as 2-3 weeks! Pretty amazing, huh? However, you have to be consistent. Showing up every once in a while won’t get you the results. You need to make it a priority and do the work! In just 30-40 minutes, 3-4 times per week, you will look and feel better.

Getting started can be overwhelming. Which exercises should you do? How do you create a workout program? Can you do it at home or do you need a gym membership? Getting guidance is a great idea for anyone who wants to start strength training. You can hire a personal trainer or join a program that leads you through the process. I personally LOVE working out at home. I never have to wait for equipment or take time to drive somewhere. I don’t have a monthly membership fee to pay, and I can wear whatever I want without worrying what people think. Gyms are great if you will use them, but home is pretty awesome too! I have worked out at home exclusively for over 20 years now and have become much stronger! It can be done!

It does require purchasing a few items, but it is far cheaper than a monthly membership. All you need to get started is weights and a little space. As you feel more comfortable in your space, you can add fun things like a bench, stability ball and resistance bands. Check out my post on setting up a home gym for more ideas!

SO now to get started! If you need help figuring out what exercises to do and when, consider a workout program that will guide you through the process. I currently have three programs (Just Strength Overload, Just Strength Max, Activate) you can purchase that will guide you through 5 days per week of workouts that are designed to help you build lean muscle mass, improve your mobility and flexibility, and re-shape your body. In under 40 minutes per day, you can discover the Fountain of Youth! Check out my Programs page to sign up!
